Essential Oils for Damaged, Overheated Skin

Essential Oils for Damaged, Overheated Skin

Essential oils and virgin plant oils are THE solution for all types of skin concerns caused by heat sources, the sun or friction.

But which oils to use? Our recommendation is a combination of spike lavender essential oil & St. John's wort virgin plant oil. Here's why:

Spike lavender & St. John's wort for burns

Lavender essential oil, and more specifically spike lavender essential oil, is a valuable remedy for soothing minor burns thanks to its calming and healing support.

St. John's Wort oil is also known for its healing and calming support, making it a good choice for minor burns. Be sure to seek medical attention for severe or extensive burns, as they may require immediate medical attention.

After the burn has cooled down, then it is time to apply the essential oil and virgin plant oil mixture. Correct and timely use of this blend can promote epidermal repair and soothe the skin; however, remember that serious burns require professional medical intervention!

DIY blend for damaged, overheated skin.

  • Lavender Spike Essential Oil - 30 drops
  • St. John's Wort virgin plant oil - 10 ml
  • Empty blending bottle

To use:

After bringing the temperature of the skin down with cool water and a hydrosol, apply 3 drops of pure spike lavender to the area of concern every 10 minutes for 2 hours.

Then, apply 3 to 4 drops of the above mixture locally, 3 to 4 times a day until improvement is seen.

Routes of administration and precautions for use:

  • For external use only.
  • Do not use if breastfeeding.
  • Suitable for children ages 6+.

This DIY blend can be stored for up to 3 months in a, cool, dry place away from direct light.

Special precautions:

St. John's wort virgin plant oil can be photosensitizing. You should therefore avoid exposing yourself to the sun for 24 hours following application. If this is an issue, replace the St. John's wort with calendula virgin plant oil. In the case of a burn, remember that scars and sun do not go well together. We do not recommend exposing recent scars to the sun to avoid marks.

Point of attention:

Always contact a medical professional for advice in the case of serious burn.
