Taking care of your skin with essential oils, VPOs & hydrosols.

Every skin type has its advantages and disadvantages. With hydrosols, essential oils and virgin plant oils, you can create a customized skincare regimen that brings out the best in your unique complexion.

Why choose a natural skincare ritual?

The answer is simple: to maintain your health holistically. The epidermis is a living organ that forms a protective shield against external aggressions of nature: UV rays, allergens, infectious agents, water loss, etc. Much of what we apply to our skin is absorbed by our body. Just as we strive to eat natural foods that nourish our health, it's important that we're feeding our skin natural ingredients, too.

You can find what you need with essential oils, virgin plant oils and hydrosols, regardless of whether your skin is dry, oily or sensitive! And if this transition to a more natural routine seems a little daunting, consider taking it slowly step by step.

Last but not least, although essential oils are real allies for the beauty and health of your skin, there are always precautions to be aware of, especially when it comes to facial care. For dermocosmetic action, essential oils are generally diluted in one or more virgin plant oils to 1% or less.

Regimens by Skin Type

For all skin types: cleanse and purify

To clean your skin, it's important not to use traditional cleansers that contain harsh chemical detergents. These tend to strip the skin of its oils, exacerbating dryness and irritation, or causing over-production of natural oil. Instead, we recommend using a gentle, neutral oil like Sweet Almond or Jojoba, both of which will help nourish the epidermis while gently removing makeup and dirt from your pores.

To use an oil cleanser, warm several drops between your palms. Gently massage into your skin, then use a warm, damp washcloth to remove. Repeat as needed.

Normal Skin

Smooth, soft, and elastic, "normal" skin is often regarded as the ideal skin type. To take care of it and to promote a “healthy glow”, here is a natural skincare combo:

Tone and hydrate:

Follow oil cleansing with a liberal spritzing of Rose Geranium Hydrosol. Gentle and balancing with a green, rosy scent, this hydrosol is an ideal daily facial mist.

Tip: Hydrosols are also very useful in the morning to set makeup!

Nourish & treat:

For this step, use an empty blending bottle to create your skincare "synergy." This blend is designed to promote radiance for normal skin while supporting even skin tone.

Massage 4-6 drops of this mixture onto your face and neck in the morning and/or evening.

Dry Skin

Dry skin lacking sebum does not produce enough natural fatty substances to keep it healthy and moist. We all have a protective barrier (hydrolipidic film), and when it is altered or non-existent, as with dry skin, this leads to water loss. Signs can include dullness, tightness, and rough texture. Dry skin also reacts quickly to external influences such as cold or extreme heat. The beauty of dry skin, however, is its fine texture and almost invisible pores.

Here is our skincare routine to pamper dry skin:

Tone and hydrate:

Follow cleansing with plenty of Neroli Hydrosol. Light, uplifting and relaxing, Neroli helps soothe irritated dry skin while imbuing with it hydration.

Nourish & treat:

In a blending bottle, combine the following:

Essential oils of Lavender and Ylang Ylang encourage calm and balance, while the virgin plant oils seal in the moisture from the hydrosol.

Massage 4-6 drops of the mixture onto the face and neck after applying hydrosol in the morning and/or evening.

Oily/Combination Skin

Oily skin is characterized by excess sebum. Some signs that show that you have “oily” skin include enlarged pores, irregular skin texture, blackheads and blemishes. Counterintuitively, even though this skin type is oily, it still needs hydration and oil. A benefit of oily skin is that it tends to delay signs of aging longer than other skin types.

Tone and hydrate:

Use Rosemary Hydrosol to promote balance. This astringent hydrosol is ideal for removing impurities and tightening pores.

Nourish & protect:

In a blending bottle, combine the following:

Massage 4-6 drops of the mixture onto the face and neck after applying hydrosol in the morning and/or evening.

Sensitive/irritated skin

Sensitive, hyper-reactive, irritable skin is not a skin type in the same way as oily skin, normal skin or dry skin. On the contrary, it is a characteristic that can concern all skin types and at any age, both occasionally and in the long term.

So, how do you recognize it? If you experience a constant feeling of discomfort, of skin that is hot, burning, tingling, red or tight, then you probably have sensitive skin.

Tone and hydrate:

Helichrysum hydrosol is ideal for irritated skin, working to calm the area and reduce redness while replenishing moisture

Nourish & protect:

In a blending bottle, combine the following:

You can also use frankincense or myrrh instead of roman chamomile.

Massage 4-6 drops of the mixture onto the face and neck after using hydrosol in the morning and/or evening.

Dehydrated Skin

First of all, it's important to know that dehydrated skin is not the same as dry skin. Dry skin is a skin type, while dehydration is a temporary condition that can affect all skin types. It is linked to external factors such as: cold, sun, stress, etc. We can therefore improve it by giving it WATER.

How do you recognize it? If you experience occasional tightness, tingling and lack of flexibility but no visible dryness or flaking, these are signs that your skin is dehydrated.

Tone and hydrate:

Lavender Hydrosol is ideal for the care of dehydrated skin. Because dehydrated skin lacks water, this element of your skincare routine is crucial. Follow quickly with the final step to seal in the moisture.

Nourish & protect:

Use 4-6 drops of this blend in the morning and before bed.

Mature skin:

We cannot escape it: our skin faces the passage of time and loses tone. It is a completely natural phenomenon of cell renewal slowing down.

How to recognize it? Mature skin is less elastic with less radiance. Visually, we can see wrinkles, fine lines or pigment spots.

Tone and hydrate:

Use Rose Otto Hydrosol. This hydrosol beautifies all skin, particularly mature skin. It stimulates tired skin, and it tones and purifies. A must-have!

Nourish and protect:

Use 4-6 drops morning and evening.
